CD Reviews: Giada Valenti, “And I Love You So”
Posted by: editoron Wednesday, November 12, 2008 - 01:54 PM
Reviews By: Edward Blanco

Italian-born singer and songwriter Giada Valenti, now based in New York, possesses the voice of an angel and the looks of a Miss Universe and with the release of And I Love You So, stakes her claim as a special vocalist who draws comparisons to being, as the press clippings state, “a female version of Michael Buble.” The album is primarily a collection of adult pop music containing some elements of contemporary light jazz but not really sufficient to categorize this as a jazz recording. If you favor beautiful love songs then you will be more than pleased by the repertoire Valenti puts together for this recording.

Valenti belts out beautiful Italian and American love songs as well as one in French. The highlights here include “Io Che Non Vivi Senza Te (You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me), “La Vie En Rose,” “It’s Impossible,” and of course the title tune. There are two jazz influenced numbers that are not to be missed and they are the Salvatore Gambardella “I have But One Heart” complete with nice piano accompaniment and a trumpet solo and then there is the brief but spacious Bruno Martino love ballad “Estate” where the lady sings her heart out.

If you listen to the pop/jazz music of Buble, Diana Krall and Norah Jones, then you will definitely want to get a hold of And I Love You So and let Giada Valenti enchant you with her voice and mesmerize you with her music. This is music for lovers that jazz audiences will surely want to embrace and Valenti’s reaching vocals will make that easy to do.
