Hot House Florida Our monthly was launched in New York in 1981 to provide music enthusiasts with a handy printed guide to the best in New York, concerts and festivals - with informed commentary on up-and-comers as well as established talent. That very first issue of Hot House was the result.
Today, well into our third decade, Hot House is going strong. Thanks to a loyal readership, including many people living far from the city and even outside the U.S. plus the enthusiastic support of club owners, concert promoters and record companies eager to build the audience for this music, we're set to broaden our scope and extend our reach still further.
Expanding our operations, and determined to help promote talented musicians outside the New York scene, we have launched Hot House Florida. With the assistance of enthusiastic writers tuned in to the Florida music world, plus a local production manager, Hot House New York President Gwen Calvier delivered the magazine to clubs, theaters, universities and music and instrument stores throughout southeast Florida the first of each month at the latest.
After the first year of operations Charlie Boyer came in to be the publisher of Hot House Florida, with Gwen’s continued help and assistance. It’s the area’s only free monthly publication devoted solely to top artists in the Jazz, Latin and Blues fields – and keyed to their upcoming local appearances.
We are confident that you will enjoy your Jazz, Latin and Blues monthly “rendez-vous”, also online at www.hothouseflorida.com for regularly updated schedules with direct link to venues’ and clubs' website and direct connection to artists' website.

Hot House Florida Like many residents of the Sunshine State, Hot House Florida has its roots in the Northeast. The monthly jazz publication launched in New York in 1981, presenting a handy guide to the best club dates, concerts and festivals, along with expert commentary on up-and-comers and legendary artists alike. While the New York edition continues going strong, Hot House publishers recognized the vitality of the Florida music scene and expanded operations to cover jazz, blues and Latin sounds within the state, with a special concentration on South Florida. Each month, our dedicated and knowledgeable staff of writers and editors provides insight into select local and national artists performing on stages from the Keys to the Tampa area. From interviews with jazz and blues greats to reviews of new recordings to spotlight critic picks on the best shows in town to comprehensive listings of bars, clubs and concert halls, Hot House Florida provides an invaluable service. In fact, Hot House Florida is the only free monthly publication solely dedicated to jazz, blues and Latin music, and we are committed to getting the word out to fellow devotees about local performances — it would not be a stretch to call Hot House Florida a labor of love. Readers can pick up a copy of the magazine on the first of the month at a variety of clubs, theaters, universities and music stores, or visit us online at Hothouseflorida.com or myspace.com/HotHouseFlorida for regularly updated schedules with direct links to venues, clubs and performers. And be sure to say hi to Hot House Florida publisher Charlie Boyer, the genial guy with the hat and the mustache, who can be spotted wherever the music is hot and happening.
