What a musical platform for jazz guitarist Eric Johnson to ply his
wondrous jazz
transcriptions-arrangements of Herbie Nichol's original songs....
Eric uses the singular tenor talents of "The Garz" George Garzone, plus
the
unique time, tempo, and rhythmic articulation of one Nat Mugavero on
drums.
Johnson's style for the bebop idiom will reach that eclectic
audience which this gifted composer & jazz guitarist deserves.
"It Didn't Happen" takes you to that area which one might call 'outside,'
& Eric has that capability to express his musical ideas with a
supra-musical, natural,
and an almost childlike expediency. This does not take anything away
from his artistry. Kudos to the group, all consummate in their respective
crafts:
Eric Johnson-guitar, Nat Mugavero-drums, Bob Nieske-bass,
George Garzone-reeds, Phil Grenadier-trumpet.
